Writes Bryan Mills, Director Cybersecurity
John McCarthy represented ServiceTec at the ACI Security Committee meeting in Milan. The most important outcome of this meeting was the agreement to convert in the New Year the current cybersecurity Task Force to a new ACI Europe Cybersecurity Committee responsible Europe wide for monitoring and guiding airports on cybersecurity. John has been active in promoting this new specialised committee and of course represents ServiceTec on it.
John McCarthy presented on Cybersecurity Incident Management to the meeting of the European Network of Law Enforcement Technology Services (ENLETS) in Malaga. The purpose of the meeting was to enable the main airport police forces from the 20 or so West European countries to discuss their present and future cybersecurity needs. John had several interesting meetings there, one of which he is following up in Malta this month, when he is there advising the Malta Freeport on cybersecurity.
We have been working with Munich Airport Academy to analyse current views on airport cybersecurity and the areas where training would be helpful. The questionnaire on this will be distributed by ACI Europe in the New Year.
Our cooperation with EGIS continues, including EU bids, one of which is just about to go in.
Finally, I was pleased to congratulate John McCarthy on this award from the UK Cybersecurity Council:
Dear John,
I am pleased to write to you today to award you Chartered Cyber Security Professional (ChCSP) status.
The Council leadership team and NCSC (National Cyber Security Council) have been discussing the possibility of awarding you Chartered status for some time now. Due to your stature in the community, and your technical knowledge and experience, it was thought that we would invite you to apply for professional registration, however, with the process that you have already been through to become a Technical Advisory Panel member for the Council, it has been agreed to award you this prestigious title now.
I want to take this opportunity to be the first to congratulate you on this achievement.
Leanne Sperry
UK Cyber Security Council
