It has been almost 27 years since I joined ServiceTec (4th January 1999) and throughout all those years I have worked closely with Andy Anderson and David Ison. As a consequence, the changes just announced are bittersweet for me. I am happy for them that they are both able to retire from the day-to-day responsibilities of running ServiceTec – they have done that for almost 10 years longer than I have, but I will also miss our frequent interactions and the overall feeling that I am working with a couple of brothers I acquired along the way!
I’m sure you will all join with me in wishing them health, happiness and very long retirements!
Now it falls upon my shoulders to lead the ‘ServiceTec family’ into the future and I am confident to say, new opportunities under the ownership of Veloce IT.
You will all have the opportunity to hear Veloce IT’s Group CEO, Tom Woollard, introduce our new parent in a video he’s making for us. They are very excited about having ServiceTec as their keystone acquisition and see us as the firm foundation for the global group they intend to build over the coming years.
Apart from selling the company, what else has happened during the past six months?
Happily, the Financial Year Ending 2026 has started well. After four months, revenue remains close to budget while operating profit is slightly ahead. This is obviously a good start to build upon, and we’re also entering the new calendar year with a number of promising opportunities for 2026.
Ensuring our name is kept at the forefront of our industry is one of the reasons we attended the ACI-NA Annual Conference and Exhibition, this year held in Toronto during October. More details are shared in a separate article, but once again the event proved to be a great opportunity to showcase our capabilities, catch up with long-standing industry partners, and fly the ServiceTec flag. The event continues to be a cornerstone in our calendar, allowing us to not only maintain our visibility in the industry but also remain close to developments in the aviation and airport technology landscape.
The corresponding event in Europe is Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE), which will be held in London during March 2026. We have already booked our space for that, and we look forward to an equally successful event – see the next newsletter for how we got on.
David and I also decided that it made sense to visit all our current Canadian sites before reaching Toronto and met our teams in Victoria, Vancouver, and Regina. In addition, we took the opportunity to meet with the airport leadership at each location, and I’m proud to say that the feedback about our teams was universally positive. Our customers spoke highly, not only of our technical expertise, but of the professionalism and reliability of our on-site staff. It’s always great to hear directly from our customers about the beneficial impact of our work, and I want to thank all of you who continue to deliver such consistently high levels of service across these locations. Keep it up!
We also made time to catch up with our local teams over lunch in Victoria and dinner in Vancouver and Regina – it is always a pleasure to spend time with each of you in person. The informal conversations and personal connections we share during these visits help reinforce the strength of our internal culture. (Apologies to the Victoria team… we forgot to take a photo with the group!)
Most recently, we held our annual North America Update Meeting in Marina del Rey, California, where we shared updates and opportunities from all the North American airports we serve. This meeting – and the corresponding EMEA Update Meeting, which takes place in May – offers us a great opportunity to share experiences, discuss ways we can help one another and brainstorm ideas for the year ahead. Tom Woollard was also able to join us for the meeting and was very impressed by our presentations – and the team making them.
Thank you to everyone involved for all your hard work in making this meeting successful – and to the teams supporting them who make it all possible!
The holidays are upon us!
The good news is that people are flying – as evidenced by the news that TSA screened over 3.13m passengers on November 30th, which is a new record for a single day. Long may our industry continue to prosper!
As 2025 draws to a close, I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone across the ServiceTec family for your hard work and dedication over the past 12 months. Whether you’re based at an airport, working remotely, or in one of our offices, your contribution matters and together we are the reason ServiceTec continues to grow and thrive as a business. It’s your efforts that strengthen our reputation, win the trust of our customers, and build the future of ServiceTec.
Wishing you and your families a joyful holiday season and a healthy, happy New Year!
