Writes Lynne Harrison, Group CFO
The start of 2022 saw us busily packing up Reston office, as we prepared to move after 13 years in the same location. By the end of January, we found ourselves ‘camping out’ in a temporary space at our new address – and trying to navigate through all the tedious paperwork required by the Town of Herndon. What was planned as a 6-week stay, largely living out of boxes, turned out to be over 4 months as we contended with permitting delays, labor shortages and supply chain issues. But we finally moved into suite 380 on June 11th!
The new space is certainly better suited to our current needs – and I’m very happy with our “ServiceTec red” accent wall!
We still have to work out where some things go – and get our maps, posters and pictures on the walls – but, overall, we have got a lot of unpacking accomplished in a very short period of time.
The next step is to get the Service Desk physically established in the dedicated space we have for the team, which facilitates hybrid (combo remote/office-based) working.
Among the benefits of this move is having a variety of eateries within easy range – we can walk to places offering lunch in the style of America, Mexico, Greece, Peru, Italy and China, to mention a few.
Another advantage is that we have more walls – so I was able to buy a bigger map to put the dots representing our airports on – and that means we need more sites to stop the map looking bare! No pressure Business Development team!!!
