Advancing Security Technology at YQR
Over the past several months, the ServiceTec team at Regina International Airport (YQR) has been focused on two major security initiatives: the Holdroom Camera Replacement Project and the Genetec and Magos Proof of Concept.
The Holdroom Camera Replacement Project is modernizing surveillance coverage throughout the terminal by replacing aging camera infrastructure with new high-performance devices. Once complete, the project will provide improved image quality, greater reliability, and enhanced coverage to support airport operations and security.
At the same time, the team has been leading a Proof of Concept for Genetec Security Center. As part of this initiative, the team designed and implemented an automated mantrap test environment to evaluate advanced access control workflows, alarm monitoring, and security automation. The mantrap allows only one authorized individual to pass through at a time and provides a controlled environment for testing security scenarios and system integrations.
A key component of the Proof of Concept has been the integration of Magos radar technology to monitor the Critical Restricted Area line. By combining radar detection with video surveillance and access control, the team has been able to evaluate how potential incursions can be detected and verified in real time, providing enhanced situational awareness for airport security operations.
These projects have also provided valuable learning opportunities, with team members completing Genetec certifications and gaining hands-on experience with advanced security technologies.
Together, these initiatives demonstrate ServiceTec’s commitment to innovation and delivering modern security solutions that support the future of airport operations at YQR.
